Sibertus Springorum

City Secretary & City-Court Scribe of Bochum

Sibertus Springorum

Sibert (Sibertus) Springorum was a son of Johann Springorum (II) and continued the family’s tradition in Bochum’s civic offices. After his father’s long career as city secretary, Sibert was appointed court clerk (Gerichtsschreiber) in 1631 by the Schultheiß. He combined legal and administrative duties, preparing documents and recording proceedings of the Stadtgericht.

His tenure was brief, as he died already in 1636, but with him the family’s involvement in Bochum’s chancery stretched across two generations. Sibert marks both the continuation and the end of this Springorum branch’s direct role in the city’s legal administration.
